Registration for the 2024/2025 School Year Begins February 14, 2024
Things I’ve learned that you really don’t want to hear your husband say:
1.“Hey, I just took a COVID test. Remind me what do two pink lines mean?”
2.“Tonight, let’s go through your Target expenses for the past three months.”
3.“I decided to help you with the laundry so I put your jeans in the dryer.”
4.“Wait… that’s tonight?”
But last Sunday night was quite the doozy when he yelled up the stairs of the basement that we just remodeled in December, “We’ve got a flood down here!”
Very quickly, we learned that a small blockage in the furnace’s humidifier pipe can lead to a very large problem. Our furnace is located in our storage closet, and since we don’t go into this particular closet very often, we have no idea how long the pipe had been leaking. Nevertheless, it appeared that it had been leaking for a while because as my son and husband were removing the plastic storage tubs from the closet, I could hear the water that had collected on top of the containers continuously splashing onto the cement floor.
The good news is that everything that was packed in a sturdy plastic container was protected. However, anything that was in cardboard or unprotected was damaged.
Interesting how floods can occur unexpectedly and arrive in many shapes and forms, both literally and figuratively. There are physical floods that can affect us, but there are also “life storms” and “floods” that also affect us in various ways.
As a result of living in a sinful world, Scripture warns all of us to be prepared for various challenging periods of life’s “storms and floods” and also that none of us, including our children, will be exempt. Luke 6:49 states “Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.”
How do you protect yourself from life’s floods? You build your life on the firm foundation of Jesus!
At St. Matthew Lutheran School, we want to partner with our parents to equip and prepare our students for life’s challenging “floods”. A rigorous academic journey is extremely important and that will be provided at St. Matthew Lutheran School, but one of the top priorities of our school is to enhance your child’s spiritual walk with the Lord, so that when challenging situations occur, your child will be prepared to handle that circumstance in Godly ways and with Godly solutions.
As a result, it is our hope and prayer that your family will return for another year of this exemplary academic and faith-building process! Registration information for 2024/2025 will be sent out on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. The priority registration period for currently enrolled students as well as members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church is from February 14 through 25, 2024. Registration will open to the public on Monday, February 26. To secure your child’s spot, we are asking all families who are planning on returning to please register by February 25.
We’re looking forward to another year of watching God work throughout your child’s academic and spiritual journey!
In Jesus,
Mrs. Palka
