Strangers in the Night!

"He who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep." Psalm 121:4     Many years ago, I received a text from my husband that stated, "Wait until you see what I bought you! It is absolutely amazing, and you are going to LOVE it!" Messages like this do not happen very often, so I was kind of excited when I saw the headlights of his car pull up into our driveway. Bursting into the house and calling my name with great intensity, I met him in the kitchen where he was very proudly holding up a new vacuum cleaner! "Isn't it a beauty?" he asked with tremendous endearment in his eyes. He then spent the next 15 minutes showing me all of the amazing features that the newest addition to our household possessed.

However, in all of the grand excitement, Ken was so caught up in the moment that he forgot to shut our main garage door. At 1:00 a.m. our daughter awoke to strange noises on the deck directly below her bedroom window. As she bravely peeked through her blinds, she saw a large spotlight searching around our backyard. Her scream caused an automatic reaction for me to go running into her room, and before I even had my wits about me, I was also peering out of her window. Not only did I see the spotlight roaming around our backyard, I also notice the lights were on in our garage.

Vigorously, I shook Ken until he awoke and intensely suggested that he should go downstairs and check it out. As Ken peeked out the living room windows, he could see two Walled Lake police cars outside of our house. I immediately called the police station and learned that the police were in our subdivision because a neighbor heard noises in his garage. Upon securing the scene, the police noticed our open garage door, so they were checking out our property to ensure that we were safe. They assumed that we were sleeping and oblivious to their presence.

God's hand of protection is very similar. Throughout our entire day and evening, He is always watching over us and protecting us. Sometimes, we are extremely aware, and sometimes, we are also oblivious. As we complete our seventh week of in-person learning during COVID, we are VERY aware of God's goodness and give Him all the glory for His protection during the start of this school year! Every day is a gift, and we are just so thankful that we are back in school! Thank you for your amazing support as well with all of our new COVID protocols and your diligence to keep our students and staff safe. With everyone working together, and God's hand of protection, we look forward to a wonderful remainder of the school year!

In His Love,
Mrs. Palka
